Vote.

Posted in Uncategorized

Four years ago, I wrapped my three day old daughter up like a little burrito and carried her with me to the polls, so I could cast my ballot. Today, four years later, I took her again:

If you are an American citizen and you are eligible and registered to vote, I strongly urge you to get out there and do it. I don’t see why you wouldn’t, but the American people are as mercurial as Christian Grey’s moods when it comes to voting. Get out there and exercise your right to vote!

Yay! Love it when people bring their kids, too; it helps to demystify the process. It was an adults-only affair when I was young, & later, many years passed before I could enter a polling booth without feeling intimidated, & filled with worry about making some sort of Mistake. Took almost as long to start voting in local elections–finally, a slightly prissy (but annoyingly right) younger co-worker stated the obvious–that results of local/state elections can have a much more immediate impact on our daily lives.

I’m sitting here, reading this in July of 2020, and looking desperately at this post, hoping that enough people will do it this year to make a difference.
