Drunk of Thrones!

Posted in Uncategorized

Our final chapter of Drunk of Thrones! is here, just in time for the series premiere tomorrow night. D-Rock and I continued to drink mini bottles of wine, one per episode, as we waded into the murky and confusion plot waters of season two of Game of Thrones. We also filmed a post-game wrap up, where we discussed the misogyny and racism of the series.

Some mild spoilers for A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance with Dragons, but nothing major. We don’t like, ruin season three or anything.

2 and 1/4 hours till Season 3 premieres!! AH! Why can't it air sooner?

I would so love to watch this show with you two. You are hilarious and awesome!

  2. I think a previous commentator pointed out that it isn't just the fact that there are so many rape scenes, it's the way they're written. It should be possible to accurately depict a medieval society complete with rape but write it with sensitivity, instead of like a freaking porno.

What happens to Cersei later in the books is the height of misogyny. That would never have been done to a man.

Also, Arya is more badass in the books. In the show, that guy kills all the guards so she can escape whereas in the book she just fucking walks up, slits the guard's throat and walks out.

Totes agree with the Sansa stuff, shes a really lovely character and really contrasts with the other players. Probably my favourite female character- you can be strong without murdering and plotting against others.

Would love to hear a more indepth commentary thingy on the gender/race stuff in Game of Thrones (with the book spoilers!)

Also would like to hear what you think about Martin's depiction of mental illness if possible (Mad king/targayens, boltons and reek!) cos that would be pretty interesting.
