I am turning 29 + 4 today, and I thought, “Well, you know you’re switching your blog around… why not start off with a bang?” Or, many bangs, that is, because today The Boss goes live in its official ebook version, available at jennytrout.com!
Sophie Scaife almost ran away once, trading her ticket to college for a ticket to Tokyo. But a delayed flight and a hot one-night stand with a stranger changed her mind, putting her firmly on track to a coveted position at a New York fashion magazine.
When the irresistible stranger from that one incredible night turns out to be her new boss – billionaire and publishing magnate Neil Elwood – Sophie can’t resist the chance to rekindle the spark between them, and the opportunity to explore her submissive side with the most Dominant man she’s ever known.
Neil is the only man who has ever understood Sophie’s need to submit in the bedroom, and the only man who has ever satisfied those desires. When their scorching, no-strings-attached sexual relationship becomes something more, Sophie must choose between her career and heart, or risk losing them both.
Now, I know a lot of you were looking forward to ordering the print-on-demand paperback of The Boss today, but unfortunately, it’s slightly delayed. This is because I want to make sure that you get a good quality paperback, so I’m not going to release it until I’m absolutely satisfied that it’s right. I’m hoping that’ll be as soon as next week, but stay tuned.
But in the meantime, enjoy the final version of The Boss, and the one chapter preview of The Girlfriend stuck on the end of it!
Also, enjoy the fuck out of this new WordPress blog, which is a freaking dream to use and I should have just switched earlier this year. Now, I’m going to celebrate turning twenty-nine for the fourth time with this Doctor Who Waldorf baby doll my friend Bronwyn Green made me!
It’s freakin’ adorable!

I switched my bookmark…and can’t wait to follow you here.
Oh man, Jenny I can’t believe you ended the first chapter of The Girlfriend like that! I was so invested in what was happening that I openly started laughing (I am in a room by myself) from the shock. You are good! Such a good hook at the end! I’ll be setting money aside to buy this August!
Yay and happy (early) birthday. You and my bff since 3rd grade are just a day apart (which means you’re associated with her, sorry) so yay!
PS– The Girlfriend preview, oh shitballs. SHITBALLS!
a) Really identified with Sophie. My ex-husband bounced out when I was preggers with my daughter, really felt like the end of the world.
b) Oh shitballs, that last sentence. Why you do that? OMG, so mean (to everyone, even the literary folk who don’t really exist)! I whined, dammit. Whined like a little girl with a skinned knee.
Happy Birthday! Can’t wait for The Girlfriend. Way to end on a cliffhanger!
Welcome to WordPress, Jenny! And Happy Birthday! And YAY for the complete epub of The Boss! Thanks for making that available, and I promise as soon as I actually have money again, I will contribute. I’m happy you’re on WordPress now for totally selfish reasons – that stupid “18+ content do you want to continue” thing on blogger is just annoying to me. I get why it was theoretically a good thing, but meh – it disturbed my personal groove of reading people’s blogs, damnit. Anyway, hope you’re well! <3
Found the blog, “bought” (contributed!) The Boss, and can’t wait to read the bonus chapter (after work. Stupid work is interfering with my reading.)
Monday morning is turning out to be better than expected!
ALSO: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Also also: HOLY SHIT, WHEN ARE YOU RELEASING THE GIRLFRIEND AGAIN?
(just read the bonus chapter. Obviously.)
Ahoy hoy, welcome to wordpress and happy birthday!
Also, to kill an ice wraith requires the heavy use of fire, like the Fire Breath dragon shout. Or send in your companion and shoot arrows at it from a distance …
Happy birthday! Glad to hear the move was mostly painless.
Welcome to WordPress! Happy birthday! Kill ice wraiths with fire – magic fire. They’re pains in the ass.
Kill an ice wraith? 1) Kill it from a distance. 2) Be a good archer and shoot that thing! 3) Use LOTS of fireballs 4) Give up and have a friend kill it for you (lol)
Oh wow now it’s going to be a situation like I have cancer and might die, so a child is a part of me that can go on if I die, a placenta can perhaps save me with stem cells. He’s rich who know’s what he has access to that the average person doesn’t?
OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY! And neither of them is very good at getting really close to anyone and they will have to learn how.
Until August I wait by my computer counting the days. This is getting really good!
Oh and happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!
Hi! This might be an obvious question for more savvy Kindle users, but I am still pretty new to mine. I have the Kindle Paperwhite, and I have no idea how to put an e-book on it except by going through Amazon. Does anyone know how to do this so I can download The Boss onto it?
Hook your kindle up to your pc with the USB cable. Download the file, when it asks you where to put it, navigate to Computer, Kindle, Documents Folder, ok.
Thanks! Are one of those formats better to use than one of the others for Kindle?
Lindsay, Mobi is the Kindle version, pdf will work, but it’s not the best.
Happy Birthday! I turn 29 for the second time next month. It’s funny how birthdays start repeating.
Happy Birthday Jenny! Loved The Boss and the preview of The Girlfriend. Can’t wait for the release next month.
Happy birthday and welcome to WordPress!
“The Boss” is *Cheryl Tunt voice* amazeballs.
I don’t mean to be dramatic or overly poetic about this but I’m very saddened with the direction the story has taken. Having lost 2 of the most important people in my life to cancer, I just can’t relive some of those moments again. The Boss proved to be such a smart, sexy, fun read until it stopped being fun and it hit a little too close to home. I loved the office politics and wish you had just followed through on that. I know, believe me I know, this is a work of fiction but cancer is very real and yes I am projecting because of my personal experiences but I don’t ever again want to hear or read the words ‘I have cancer’ ever again. Last weekend in Montreal we had our annual Ride To Conquer Cancer event and a lot of my family and friends were riding this year and the rest of us volunteered. We’ve been doing so for the past 5 years. I really love your writing and your Buffy and FSOG recaps are the best so I can only hope you write Neil as one the lucky ones because it would be too cruel after six years apart for your characters not to have their happy ending. I’m sorry this was so long but I will continue to follow you and your work just not The Girlfriend. Thank you.
I’m replying to myself because I forgot to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And by the way my name is Sofie.
Yes you are projecting and unfairly so. It’s a bit much to blame a book/author for your own feelings and experience coming to the surface. Most of us have dealt with cancer in one way or another and you absolutely have the right to your feelings but perhaps try to remember that there’s no need to dump it all on someone who was just telling a story.
No troubles. I’ve had a lot of people in my life go through cancer, as well, so I completely understand.
Happy birthday, Jen!!! Can’t wait for the POD version of The Boss! I love my paperback books! We’re out here in No-Man’s-Land and the power goes out when the wind blows too hard. 😉 Easier to read a book by candle or flashlight than to be fearful batteries will go out on an e-reader!
Yay! Super stoked for The Boss, The Girlfriend, and you on WordPress. 🙂 I’m enjoying using it too, glad you’re here!
Happy birthday and welcome to WordPress!
Happy Birthday! Not only do we live in the same county, but we share the same birthday month (mine was back on the third).
Why stop at 29? Just last month I celebrated the 22nd anniversary of my 21st birthday!
Happy birthday to you, Happy book birthday to The Boss and Happy blog birthday! As for the ice wraith, I’d suggest using flame and maybe a 1-handed weapon. Unless you have the perk to increase damage on duel-weild destruction spells, if so, use flame. Or not. It’s your birthday, you do what you like 🙂
Oh noez! Monetization of adult content!! As much as I love Google, WordPress really is superior. Enjoy!
Dammit! I purposely waited to read The Boss until the whole thing was out. I HATE to wait, and knew waiting chapter by chapter would drive me bonkers. And now I have to wait anyway! Loved it, can’t wait for more 🙂 Will shove it down the throats of everyone I know that read that other crap and say “See, he doesn’t have to be an asshole!”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Welcome to WP! I have to say, I welcome the move, since I blog here. Makes it easier to follow!!
Happy Happy Birthday!!
That chapter? The beginning of “The Girlfriend?” Oh. Your. God! I can’t wait to read the rest of it. I’m dying here, waiting for August!
Happy belated birthday!
I’m loving how this WordPress blog isn’t asking me if I’m “okay with adult content” every time I visit it. I’m very tempted to transfer my own movie/occasional book review blog over here.
Okay, so I waited and waited and kept telling myself, No Nadia, don’t read the snippet of The Girlfriend, just be patient and wait until August. It will be an early birthday present to myself. BUT NOOOOOOOO…do I listen to myself? Nope not one little bit. So now I sit here with tears in my eyes cause…..well cause!!! And that should be a normal reason and I shouldn’t have to say any more…LOL…Love the new home. Happy Birthday, Happy New Blog, Happy Everything.
Happy Birthday!! Hooray for being able to post comments to your blog now! I wasn’t running Chrome, and Firefox hates Blogger, so I haven’t been able to comment on your posts for aaaaages!
Happy birthday! I saw it was your birthday the other day and was totally going to tell you a happy one but the heat does things to my brain and I forgot.
So happy belated birthday, I guess. Yeah.
PS welcome to WordPress! Isn’t it awesome?
the preview gave me goosebumps!!! I’m looking forward to the next chapters
