Got a book out, Trout Nation?

Posted in Uncategorized

Hey there, Trout Nation. It occurred to me, when twitter conversating with author Kelsey Jordan,  that many of you are also authors. And that’s fantastic. And I realized that, hey, I could be doing more to spread the visibility around. Since so many of you guys have pushed links to the Buffy recaps and the 50 Shades tragedy, I should really try and return the favor.

So this is the first “shamelessly promote your work in the comments” post. I’m going to try and remember to do these once a month. But there are gonna be rules:

1. One comment per author.

2. You must include a buy-link.

3. Don’t promo your book or put buy-links in replies to another author’s comment.

Pretty simple, right? Go to town!

Oh, but before you do, go check out this awesome interview and giveaway with the aforementioned Kelsey Jordan, who gave me the idea in a roundabout way.

Did you enjoy this post?

Trout Nation content is always free, but you can help keep things going by making a small donation via Ko-fi!

  1. My book, Sacred Blood, is coming out tomorrow, and since Amazon doesn’t up something up as “coming soon,” I don’t have the direct link.

However I do have this link for a giveaway of dozens of books, including my own: http://www.strongwomeninfiction.com/ We’ve been helping to promote each other through this giveaway. Most entrants are getting about 15 entries. That’s all right. I presume people are following the authors whose books interest them the most for those entries.

My buy-link will be inserted tomorrow as soon as I get it. In the meantime, there are a couple dozen other authors whose books you can buy right now. Some of the authors are also regular commenters here. 🙂

In the meantime, my Goodreads link to the book: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17238992-sacred-blood

    And my Amazon author link:
    http://amazon.com/author/alysbcohen

I’ll comment under this with my buy-link, which I’ll have tomorrow, hopefully in the morning.

Fingers crossed people share historical fiction they’ve written that can be purchased as a print book. I picked an ornament off one of those wish trees for needy kids, and “my” kid is a teen who wants historical fiction. I’d love to send her some indie books.

Long past time for that teen but if you get another with the same wish, try Courtney Milan’s historicals. She does unusual characters (especially in the novellas) such as middle class and lower class people in addition to the usual lords and ladies. They often have additional issues such as bullying, dyslexia, PTSD, etc that are unrecognized at the time and she even has some with POC. I’ve gotten print and ebooks of hers and the ebooks are usually sold with permission to strip DRM if preferred.

I love her characters since she gives the women so much agency even within the restricted conventions of the time. Usually 1 or more historical novellas are available free or $0.99 if you want to try beforehand. Unlocked is normally free and about a man who returns from abroad and tries to repair the damage from his bullying 10 years prior and The Governess Affair is about a woman seeking compensation for a rape.

  2. I haven’t quite hit book levels yet, but I did recently publish a short story on Smashwords. “Everyday Dangers”, featuring a superhero/mostly-ex-supervillain teamup as they play around in the laboratory Danger Room before dinner. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/382128 It’s also featured in Smashwords’ premium catalogue, so you should be able to buy it from Amazon, Borders, Apple and the like, too.

  4. I’ve got a paranormal romance/mystery series set in the Old West. (Two-word description: Vampire Sheriff!)

The heroine is a tomboy with an abhorence for corsets and a hair-trigger temper, who ends up penniless in a mining ghost town. But she soon finds love with the neighbourhood vampire. Before long they’re slinging guns and solving crimes – while always avoiding the awkward question of why he can never come out in daytime.

Check out the first book “A Ghost Town Vampire” here:

Both books are available in other eBook formats directly from the publisher at http://www.wings-press.com/. Just go to Author Search under “S”

  5. Try A Note of Scandal: Newspaper buzz, soldiers back from war, and class-crossed love in London 1815.
BUT If you like more history and less romance, wait for An Untitled Lady, releasing Dec. 20. More here: http://nickypenttila.com
    Thanks for reading.

Aww everyone’s books look so legit. And I feel sorta like a lurker who’s pimping out their own work but… I too write an e-series (book publishing feels a long way off from here) available at Bigworldnetwork.com. Its urban fantasy (well… more like rural fantasy teehee) set in Athens, Georgia and features a college student who protects this realm from the “8” other realms. I admit, its my first big work, so I’m still learning the e-series ropes. I like to fancy I write humorously, at the very least its not too melodramatic.

If thats not your thing, please check out the other series on the website! Since I’ve been writing there’s been tons of great new additions. FYI, though, it’s 3 dollars a month to subscribe, and only the first 3 episodes in a given season are free to read.

(Also: thanks Jenny for this awesome opportunity!)

  7. This is a pretty awesome thing, Jenny. Thank you!

So I’ve got a new release called Stranger Skies. It’s available here: http://katjevanloon.tomely.com/stranger-skies

“A goddess’ fall from grace leaves her on an alien world, bereft of her followers, trapped in a mortal body. Should she strive to regain her godhood or accept her mortality and find love?

Silva, Queen of Wolves, Lady of the True Woods, seeks her only friend Etan, who, along with other deities of the Council of Divinity, has gone missing for reasons unknown. Her search traps her on a world where the wolves have lost faith in her; she becomes a mortal woman whose remaining powers could brand her as a witch.

Through the chaos of war and the turmoil in her own heart, Silva can’t escape a persistent feeling: her fall was not an accident.”

  8. My second novel was published this September. It’s called BIANCA REAGAN: WHERE THE ACTION IS, and it follows a Hollywood assistant as she gets caught between the worlds of politics and entertainment: http://www.amazon.com/Bianca-Reagan-Where-Action-Is/dp/0979935717.

(I wanted to include the cool picture link to Amazon like you other authors have for your books, but I don’t know how. 🙁 )

  9. Thank you for a wonderful opportunity for new writers!

My pseud has a book out today, Held: A New Adult Romance. I like to think of it as yet another up-yours to the increasing trend of framing violent and abusive relationships as true love. Thanks again for nothing, Fifty Shades of Grey.

It’s also available at a special introductory launch price of just $0.99. 🙂
