Happy Game of Thrones Season 4 (or “The second half of book 3: The Movie) day!

Posted in Uncategorized

Oh my Hodor. I am so excited. Today is Game of Thrones day and last night I just finished up an epic rewatch with my cousin D-Rock and my #MerlinClub pals Jessica Jarman and Bronwyn Green!

Oh. Well, it was a rewatch for some of us. Brownyn Green hadn’t seen any of the series. At all.

And last night was “The Rains of Castamere.”

This is a screenshot of the chat window during the infamous “red wedding” scene. The text is all Bronwyn:

If you’ve seen all three seasons or just don’t give a shit about spoilers, here’s the hilarious Honest Trailer for Game of Thrones. I wish they would have left out the dig about Martin’s weight, though. But the rest is true on so goddamn many levels.

Are you watching tonight? Or, if you’re in elsewhere locations, tomorrow? Come back and leave a comment after you see the episode and tell me what you thought of it. I won’t read them until I can see the episode myself, but I’m totally psyched to talk Thrones with people again after so long.

  1. Eeeeeeeeee!! They’re showing it at 2am in the UK so they can say it’s the first showing (tied with other places obviously, but at least we won’t have a day FULL of spoilers if we don’t want to)

I remember when I was 15 and all our American shows were shown 4 months behind, it was agony! (Just asked the husband who is 6 years older than me (and remembers when there were only 3 TV channels) and he says when he was a kid there was a THREE YEAR delay!)

Unfortunately my bedtime is 10pm so there’s no way I can stay up, and I’m at work tomorrow, so it’ll have to wait till the second I get home!

In the meantime I will be very bouncy and excited. 😀

  2. As an aside, I had read the books and knew exactly what was coming at the red wedding, and it still had me curled up in a ball for twenty minutes with husband stroking my hair and reassuring me that it’s not real.

    (POSSIBLE MILD SPOILER??)
I think it was the fact that Robb’s wife (that honest trailer is right, I’ve NO CLUE what her bloody name is!) was there, which she wasn’t in the book, and where the stabbing started, and the look on her face. Oh I just made myself sad again 🙁

      ***SPOILERS***

Yeah, I think the way they showed the scene on the show, with the stabbing starting how it does, managed to surprise even us readers…

Aaaaaah, I am so happy Game of Thrones is back!!!! I can’t wait for the next ep >D. 😀 The trailer for the next episode though combined with screen shots I’ve seen on Tumblr for Margaery’s wedding dress make me very excited for that spectacle, reading the books I am very, very excited for certain things to finally occur.

This first episode made me very happy though. It was a good place to start with all the characters. I feel like we “caught up” with most everyone, but it wasn’t like a drag, maybe considering all of the angst it dredged up from last season. Also Jaime and Brienne’s little aside made me so happy, let the shipping begin (again)! I also love that Olenna gave Brienne the respect she deserves and that Margaery just didn’t discount Brienne’s account as impossible immediately. As always I feel terrible for Sansa.

I also feel like Dany’s segment did a good job of setting her up to ‘play monarch’ in a sense and was good with the minor foreshadowing of possible problems on the horizon with her dragon babies. I hope we get to see Dany grow a little more in the show than in the book, but the show will no doubt shorten things up regardless as five really, really long books gives a lot of time. Regardless, long live the mother of dragons!

Man, this just reinforces how badly I want The Winds of Winter to come out. I need to know things. I am so excited for next week, I have a feeling Tumblr is going to be exploding with pic spams. 😀

I thought it was pretty good. They do have so many characters that they have to check in with that we didn’t get a lot of time with people, but I loved what I saw. I can’t wait for… certain things that should be happening soon! Yay!

Obyron Martell is my new Westerosi crush. Love that he’s bi, works well with my Ser Jorah fantasy. Rawr.

I think season four is going to show everybody’s dark side. Given, yeah, I read the books and know what’s coming up, but this will be a dark and moody season. It’ll be excellent.

It was pretty badass when Arya reclaimed Needle. Oooh can’t wait for her story arch to really take off.

I hated Meereen in the books, so here’s hoping the show improves on it. The new Daario isn’t that bad, but where oh where is the blue trident beard?

      *FLORAL SPOILERS*

Yay GoT discussions! This place needs a Tully banner.

I’m cool with new no-longer-a-boyband-member Daario, but yes, they really should have done the flashy beard. And the gold mustache. And possibly a motorcycle.

On the subject of blue things: florist roses don’t grow in the desert wilderness, damnit! Unless Daario Naharis craps them, which is entirely possible.

I laughed so hard at “Lord Friend-Zone” in that clip.

Ep. 1 of this season rocked and Ep. 2 is going to be epic. CANNOT WAIT!

I was disappointed by the red wedding, the way people had talked it up when it first aired I was expecting much more emotional trauma and general gore. However, I did watch all 3 seasons in a week, and smashing everything together like that probably doesn’t allow me to really absorb what I’ve seen.
I feel like I’d be more emotionally into this show if I hadn’t watched SoA first. [Maybe spoilers?] That show made me fall in love and then just ripped my heart out and I haven’t been able to watch last season bc I’m afraid it will send me back to crying in my shower.

Thanks for posting the link. The Honest Trailer for Hunger Games massively irked me so I was hesitant to watch this one. Glad I did. I do prefer the books over the TV series but can keep myself amused by keeping informed of where it is.

  10. Watched on Sunday night. Very excited about this season. I’ve read the books but there is something really delicious about savoring the show with my husband. I just love it.

(Also, I gotta say, I’m reading The Bride right now and I’m really into it!)
