State of The Trout: Books out the wazoo

Posted in Uncategorized

Remember back in July when I was in that New Adult anthology, If Ever I Would Leave You? My story, A Choice Fit For A Queen, is re-releasing as a $0.99 stand-alone novella, Choosing You.

choosing you cover small

For perpetual overachiever Madison Lane, a summer studying Arthurian mythology in the Welsh countryside with professor Thomas Evans is a dream come true, and the adventure of a lifetime.

Of course, the enormous crush Madison developed on the professor after a semester of his lectures at U of M has absolutely nothing to do with her desire to learn more about the enduring legend of Camelot. At least, that’s what she’s telling her parents.

When Madison meets local hottie Rhys Crewe, sparks fly, throwing her plans for a wild fling with Professor Evans completely out of whack—as do her unexpectedly complicated feelings for Thomas. With tales of Arthur and Lancelot haunting her every waking moment, Madison has to make the most difficult choice of her life.

So, if you read A Choice Fit For A Queen, the only new thing here is the cover and the title. If you haven’t read A Choice Fit For A Queen, then yay, new book! And if you’re curious about my writing but you’re not into billionaires, then this is a good $0.99 cent way to sample. You can get it on Amazon today, with Smashwords and Barnes & Noble to follow. And if you’re into anthologies, you can still purchase If Ever I Would Leave You for $2.99. Check out the “Read Jenny’s Books” page for more info and buy links.

Other news: The final touches are still being added to The Ex. While I would have loved to have had a pre-order set up by now, at the moment I’m just trying to get it as perfect as I can get it before uploading. Delivering a quality book to you is always more important to me than first day sales.

Kickstart the book that will show the world what it’s like to be an overweight woman: Photographer Haley Morris-Cafiero takes pictures of herself walking around and just doing normal things in public. The catch? She’s overweight. Her photos show how people look at her when she’s not looking at them–and how people react to “imperfection” when nobody is watching. She’s currently crowdfunding a book of her photos, and you know I’m a sucker for independent projects, so I wanted to share it with all of you so you can have the opportunity to help her out, if you want.

Just wanted to say, I finally started reading The Boss, and omg it’s so amazing!!!! I want to get my husband to read it…. thank you for creating a book like this that doesn’t make me run screaming from the room! At least, not in a bad way 😉

I’m intrigued by the Kickstarter project but I wonder if all those people in the images have been consulted about whether or not they give permission to use photos that recognizably show their faces. I hate posing for pictures and candid shots can be downright humiliating.

Not that the people sneering at her deserve to be protected, necessarily, but there are lots of people in these pictures who aren’t doing anything bad that should be exposed.

I have read your blog closely for the last few months. I found it after the bikini post went to facebook and I stayed for the recaps. I must admit I love them. I almost love them enough to say it’s worth those horrible 50 Shades books having been written just to be able to laugh along with the recaps, but alas the books themselves make me so angry I can’t condone their existence.

“A Choice Fit For A Queen” however was a very enjoyable book and did not make me angry at all! I bought the anthology “If Ever I Would Leave You?” just because yours was one of the books and it was worth every penny! I am a huge fan of your wit and humor ( I consider those two seperate things) and was thrilled to see the characters you created are believable and their choices realistic. I am definitely a fan!

Sadly, I am also apparently rather stupid because while I know you’ve written 22(ish?) books under three(ish?) names, I could only find the 7 you have posted under Read Jenny’s Books. Is there somewhere else I can go to see what else you have published? I’m sorry if this was covered elsewhere and I just do not see it.

From 2006 – 2011 I wrote Fantasy/Urban Fantasy/Horror as Jennifer Armintrout, but since there’s another author with that name, I changed to Jenny Trout in 2013. I think it was 2013. In 2009 I started writing Erotic Romance as Abigail Barnette, in order to keep one “brand” of fiction separate from the other. The bulk of my work was written as Abigail Barnette, and is still available online (mostly in ebook form). The books I wrote as Jennifer Armintrout are mostly out of print, but I understand there may be ebook versions of those, as well. Thanks for asking! 😀

I cannot WAIT for The Ex! I got myself a Kindle a couple of months ago and thought I’d christen it with The Boss. I stayed up until 2 am because I couldn’t put it down (so really you owe me an apology for causing me to yawn my way though work the next day). Then, somewhere halfway through The Girlfriend I realised that I was not used to reading books with a Dom/sub relationship where the characters actually had respect for each other. It was a light-bulb moment of “so this is how it should be done!”.

So while I really do want you to release The Ex like right now because I need more Neil and Sophie (and Emir) shenanigans, I am also so happy that you care so much about the quality of the work you put out.

    Hi Jenny!
This doesn’t really fit anywhere… but I just wanted to stop by and say that whenever 50 shades of gray comes up on a few different sites I follow (random pop culture type places and parenting oriented places) in the comment section, there will be at least one person who points out that you have the best recaps/ take aparts of 50SoG and they link your blog 🙂 And then everyone else joins in with how awesome you are 🙂

Clearly I’m drawn to places that probably have people of a similar frame of mind for the most part, but it always makes me smile to see that across the webs, people are appreciating your hard work… I know I do!!

Do you pick the titles yourself?
Because “Choosing You” for a romance story sounds like Pokémon slash in a very specific way.

I do, in fact, pick out my own titles. And now you know my secret Pokemon shame.

Hey, if it works for Twilight fanfic, right?
