Posted in Uncategorized

Want to spend your Friday night home alone crying? Planning to do that anyway? Then I’ve got a deal for you! Friday August 21, 9 P.M. EST, Jessica Jarman, Bronwyn Green and I will be on Twitter watching the 2012 Danish assault on every emotion in your brain, A Royal Affair.

If you’ve you’ve already seen it, bring tissues. If you haven’t already seen it, bring tissues and a bucket in which to put your still beating heart after this movie rips it out of your chest. And tweet along with us at the hashtag #UglyCry.

I’ve seen it. I was impressed at how interesting it was and how it kept my attention, considering I’m not really into romance or political movies. I was also impressed at how progressive some of the policies were that they implemented, not just in the context of their time, but in comparison to modern society.

I’ve watched it already and that was enough heartbreak to last me a decade, so I’m out. You guys have… not-fun!

Great movie, six hankies at least for the crying. Not sure I could go there but I’ll see.

Oh god, it’s the saddest movie ever. I watched it last year, but this year I can’t, as they say, even. It’s really, really good, though. Best of luck to all of you.

Seeing the poster it immediately brings to mind that old Fry and Laurie Victorian Gentlemen (AKA soup vs broth sketch).

  9. I’ve seen this movie so often that I swear I’m fluent in Dutch now. Well, not literally, but I can have it on in the background of whatever I’m doing, and know what’s happening. But if I focus on it, cue the waterworks every single time.

I’ll be watching along and commenting.

I watched this movie and didn’t cry at all. I didn’t even feel the urge to cry. I guess I have no soul.
