I’ve been working for about two years now to bring my very first novel, Blood Ties Book One: The Turning<\/em>, back to readers. I’ve been tinkering, revising, and generally isolating myself from the world lately while laboring on a few interesting projects that I can’t wait to share, but the one that has been priority #1 is The Turning<\/em>. Now that I’m in the home stretch, with the twentieth anniversary less than six months away, I’m excited about it in a way that makes my stomach nervous. It’s available for pre-order now, and releases June 6, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because its originally release date was 6\/6\/06. That maybe explains a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n

In 2025, I made it my goal to be a bestseller again, but I underestimated how consumed I would be with The Turning<\/em>. I also underestimated how consumed I would be with working for a chocolatier and helping to manage their store. Shout out to the people who came in and recognized me behind the coffee bar. That was so friendly of you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But yeah, some of my goals just didn’t pop, or got stalled at various stages (especially the hardback special edition of First Time<\/em>, which is still very much in the works, but for which I’m now considering new printing methods and weighing my options), but I did get to hit a bestseller list this year, thanks to Stuff Your Kindle Day. A Kingdom of Pleasure and Torment<\/em> made it to #30 or something free in the Kindle store. So, I achieved my goal, if not the giant workload I gave myself that would have been super tight even if I had still been writing full time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2026, I’m going to appreciate the benefits of going slow. I think it’s something we all need to do this year, based on the state of the world and the mounting stress everyone has.
