Merlin club is a weekly feature in which Jessica Jarman, Bronwyn Green, and myself gather at 8pm EST to watch an episode of the amazing BBC series\u00a0Merlin,\u00a0<\/em>starring Colin Morgan and literally nobody else I care about except Colin Morgan.<\/p>\n

Okay, I lie. A lot of other really cool people are in it, too.<\/p>\n

Anyway, we watch the show, we tweet to the hashtag #MerlinClub, and on Fridays we share our thoughts about the episode we watched earlier in the week.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So, here’s a quick rundown of episode seven:\u00a0<\/strong>Morgana\u00a0is super pissed that she got her ass thrown into a tree, so she’s like, fuck this, I’m going to go to a bad ass sorcerer to force Gaius to reveal the true identity of Emrys. The sorcerer guy is a Catholic or something, I’ve never really caught what they’re calling this dude. Anyway, he uses magic to force Gaius to give Merlin up, but when he finds out that Merlin is literally the best sorcerer ever, the Catholic switches loyalties. Gaius goes home to Camelot, and basically everyone but Arthur gets that Agravaine is the bad guy.<\/p>\n

If I had written this episode, I would have changed:\u00a0<\/strong>The uncomfortably sensual tone of Gaius’s torture scenes. Why is that Catholic guy whispering so sexy? Why is everything glistening with sweat? I don’t like this.<\/p>\n

The thing I loved most about this episode:<\/b>\u00a0The scene where Gwain comes to offer help to Merlin, and they tumble into bed in a passionate embrace.<\/p>\n

Okay, fine, that didn’t happen. I guess the thing I love most about this episode is how Gaius handed Arthur his ass about not believing him. And how Gwain is always there for Merlin.<\/p>\n

The thing I hated most about this episode:\u00a0<\/strong>The way Arthur keeps automatically believing every single thing Agravaine says, especially when it’s so painfully obvious that Agravaine is the bad guy.<\/p>\n

Something I never noticed before:\u00a0<\/strong>I cannot fucking\u00a0believe<\/em> how transparent Agravaine is when he’s trying to frame Gaius. He doesn’t even\u00a0try<\/em> to let Arthur come to his own conclusions. He’s just like, “Wow, can you believe that guy? You should probably throw him in the dungeon and murder him, because man. He is definitely the guy who’s a traitor. Not me. I mean, look at how strongly I’m reacting. Clearly it’s not me, because if it wasn’t, I would not be so surprised at this really, really surprising turn of events.”<\/p>\n

Favorite Costume:\u00a0<\/strong>Morgana’s corset.<\/p>\n

I refuse to apologize for my choices.<\/p>\n

Here is proof of some random headcanon I created:\u00a0<\/strong>I loathe Agravaine. He’s like, the cousin they introduce in the fifth season of a failing sitcom. But I understand why some people ship him with Morgana. He’s weirdly loyal to her. Morgana is like, his emotionally abusive girlfriend. Of course shippers are going to pounce on that dynamic.<\/p>\n

What object would Bronwyn steal from this episode?\u00a0<\/strong>I don’t think she would steal these chairs, but this weird patterned leather? She would take this and make it into something.<\/p>\n

What Merthur moment did Jess have the naughtiest thoughts about?\u00a0<\/strong>The very tense, angst-charged moment after Merlin said that Gaius wouldn’t have left without saying goodbye to him.<\/p>\n
