In case you hadn’t already heard, 50 Shades of Grey is now an Oscar nominated film. The tragedies of 2016 just keep coming and coming.
But here’s the good news! I’ve got books planned for 2016!
- Second Chance Ian and Penny return in another set of dual novels in the spring, release date tba.
- Emir will get his own novel in the fall No title yet, but expect a romance between El-Mudad and a hunky bodyguard, and a very hot scene with Neil and Sophie.
Other good news! A new chapter of my free online horror serial, The Afflicted is available now! If you haven’t read it, you can start from the beginning here.
Oh! And I forgot and am now editing this bit in: I started my 2016 reading challenge today (I had to finish up a book I started in 2015 first). For “A book with a blue cover” I’ve selected Truthwitch by Susan Dennard.
That’s all the news that’s fit to print for now!
Haven’t heard the song. I guess even the worst films have to do something right. Right? It could have been worse!
well, to be fair, the SONG used in 50 shades was nominated for an Oscar, not the movie. All that is really saying, no matter how they try to spin it, is that the song is good despite being in that abomination.
But just got nominated for 6 Razzies:
Worst Actor: Dornan
Worst Actress: Johnson
Worst Director: Taylor-Johnson
Worst Picture
Worst Combo : Dornan/Johnson
Worst Screenplay

Duel novels, eh? Pistols at dawn?
I blame that slip up on the Hamilton soundtrack.
I knew the nomination had to be for the music, but JFC really?? :/
Ohhh, Will you make a quick review of truthwitch when you finish it? Or goodreads? I’ve bien seeing that booksth everywhere, i’d love to get your opinion 🙂
Socio excited for the New books, and the spring, in the spring YAYYY SOO SON! 🙂
auto correct is a bitch
Alan Rickman dies and 50 Shades of Gray gets Oscar nominated. What horrific alternate universe did I wake up in this morning?
HAHA, OMG, so true!! I’m not sure I can live in a world where it even is considered for any award by the Academy.
Blowing grateful kisses in your general direction. I LOVE Emir and wanted to know more of his story.
Ugh. I try to watch all of the Oscar-nominated films, because it makes watching the actual Oscars so much more meaningful, but I could only get about 15 minutes into FSoG before turning it off. Somewhere around his creepy visit to the hardware store is where I gave up. Guess I’m gonna have to give that film a pass on the list…
Watch the CinemaSins ‘everything wrong with’ video for it instead. Much shorter and more fun.
That’s good advice!
Wait, Amanda, Alan Rickman died?! UGH. I woke up in the wrong parallel dimension today, I guess. I loved him as Snape. Plus, David Bowie is gone. I hate 2016.
Emir novel! *runs around squeeing like a mad woman*
*notices you and also runs around squeeing*
At least it’s only the song that got nominated. Nothing to do with EL James.
You think she won’t take credit? Her next book will say “Author of the book the Oscar nominated…”. She took credit for S Meyer’s work, why not this?
I have commented on wattpad before, but seriously I can’t say enough how much I enjoy the Afflicted. In a lot of ways it almost has the feel of some of my favorite 19th century horror stories, and as an Upstate NY girl I find the inclusion of the Shakers really, really well done.
seconded! i’ve been thoroughly enjoying the afflicted. you could update it every day and it still wouldn’t be enough for me
An Emir novel! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m a tad disappointed that it won’t centre on his relationship with Neil and Sophie, as it really seemed like there was a lot more that could be expanded upon in The Baby (not that there was much time for that, what with all the tragedy and weep-fests). But yay! It’ll be like the aftercare we never got, hahah.
