BIG DAMN SELF-PROMO POST!

Posted in Uncategorized

Okay, everybody! If you count time the way I do, we just did one of these “the other day” (keep in mind, I recently said that the Challenger disaster was “the other day”). But in real people time, it’s been a while. Use the comments section to promote your indie projects. Your bands, your blogs, your movies, your books, your Kickstarters, your Etsy shops, anything that you produce independently and want to share with Trout Nation, post it in the comments. Give us a few sentences or paragraphs so we know what we’re looking at it (no links just left out there in the raw, please) and promote all your projects in one comment.

Don’t have an indie project to share? Browse through the comments. You’ll find some amazing stuff, because Trout Nation is full of interesting and creative people.

Since I promote my own projects all the time, this time I’m going to promote an indie band, Overly Polite Tornadoes:

Mark Morris and Holly Klutts-Morris are already in another awesome indie band, Glowfriends (You may have heard their music on MTV’s Teen Wolf ), and they also happen to be my cousin and her husband, so I think they’re pretty darn neat.  You can download their album for $5 at the link above, and it’ll be worth every penny if you’re into introspective, chill music.

All right, everybody, GO!

Did you enjoy this post?

Trout Nation content is always free, but you can help keep things going by making a small donation via Ko-fi!

  1. Woo! I, uh, have a little Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/NerdyNecklaces. Lots of nerdy jewelry in the $10-$20 range, and I’m always happy to do custom orders if you want something in a particular fandom and I don’t have it there already.

    Steampunk
    Anime
    Videogames
Random stuff that reminds me of internet memes

Thanks, Jenny, for the chance to promote – I don’t get to brag about it often 🙂

  2. I write a style blog with an emphasis on practical, comfortable, and versatile fashion: http://www.practicallystyli.sh

Although most of my posts are for a female audience, I love talking to everyone about choosing clothes that make them feel confident. I cover shopping tips, outfit and color palette ideas, stylish DIY projects, and much more!

(Thanks for giving me a place to plug, Jenny!)

  3. http://some-stories.com/ is an independently owned webcomic publisher. We’re currently publishing three graphic novels, with a fourth coming early next year.

The Piano Tuner’s Niece is a supernatural YA.

Brian, Young Ninja is the adventures of a loser ninja fresh from the ninja academy.

Anime Asylum is about two young cartoons doing community service after discovering the plans of the evil queen.

There is also a store with cute tee shirts and things. Woo, self promotion!

  4. Is it okay to promo something you’ve already promoed here? Because I think I already have. But it’s one of those perpetual need kind of projects.

I’m drawing and giving away ten thousand flowers. Because I want to. I’m up to a little over a thousand in the drawing department, but I’ve only given away a few hundred so I have a HUGE backstock of flowers still to give away. All you have to do is send me a SASE and I’ll slip in a flower and mail it back to you.

    Deets are here: http://www.wonderbink.com/10kflowers/

Follow me on twitter (@wonderbink) if you want to see my postings of the first flower of the day.

    Thanks!

I am an independent author. >_>

I just made a website! My friend thought it was silly that I was trying to do this professionally and didn’t have a website because–hello, 21st century?

SO I made a website. Here it is! http://neniasbooks.blogspot.com/

It took five hours, but now most of my books are listed, replete with buy links, and I am very proud of myself. 🙂

I’m in a band! We just put out our first single (with a HUGE assist from a local recording school), and we’ll be doing our first paid gig in December. I play rhythm guitar and sometimes write some of our lyrics – I didn’t write this song, but I’ve got one or two that we’ll be playing soon, with any luck!

We’re also on Facebook (1st & Stephen), Twitter, Bandcamp, and probably whatever other online platforms you use too :D.

  7. I love these posts, because I love seeing what everyone else is doing. 😀

I’m an indie author, too. http://writingwinters.com

I have two vampire books out, BLACK and RED. They’re the first two in a trilogy – the Josephine series – that are part of a larger series, The Imperial Vampires. Josephine is a plus-sized heroine, and I love her more than I should, and the third in the trilogy will be out in spring of 2015, so it’s not long to wait for them to be “finished”.

I also have a literary novel available for pre-order. MADNESS is about an ex-professional mistress, the alcoholic who wants to date her, and his codependent best friend who thinks the whole idea is shitty. If you liked GONE GIRL, you’ll like MADNESS.

And I do Forever Knight recaps. I try for weekly. I should be writing one now, but this is way more fun, yo.

Oh you’re the Forever Knight person I found a while back and lost track of. Yay for finding you again.

I also bought Black, I’ll have to check out Red 🙂

      • Thank you! Or, wait, should I be chastising you for not pre-ordering? What’s the professional etiquette these days? 😉

lol I can’t remember if preordering was an option, I just remember staying up way too late reading the Forever Knight recaps and then again with Black. I had a whole lot on at work at the time and I think I decided you were bad for my sleep 🙂

  9. Hey all – Bronwyn Green, here. 🙂 I’m super excited because I’m releasing my first YA book (think homicidal soul sucking faeries) under my other name, Christine Allen-Riley.

It’s here on Goodreads if you want to take a peek: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22734917-eventide and it releases on October 20th. And if you want, you can check out my website, too. http://www.christineallen-riley.com

Thanks, Jen for being awesome and letting everyone share. There are so many cool projects happening!

I love seeing what everyone is up to! I also love to shop, so knowing my money is going to cool people who enjoy basking in the glory of The Trout as much as I do always makes me feel better. :o) So, gratuitous self promotion, eh? Well, I have a little channel on You Tube where I show ladies (and gentlemen if they are so inclined) how to style their own hair. It helps if you have VERY long hair, but many of my styles can be replicated at least partially on much less. That can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/torrinpaige

I am also the drummer in a little Americana band. In fact, I taught myself to play the drums just so my old man would have a dependable drummer. I had always wanted to try my hand at it, but was told that “girls don’t play drums” and thus never did. My husband bought me a drum kit so I could pursue my passion and it remains one of the very best things he has ever done for me. I love it so! Anywhoodles, we recorded a cd and it’s available at various places online, but Amazon is the cheapest, so I’ll just link you there. Thanks so much! http://www.amazon.com/Too-Far-Here-Nekkid-Country/dp/B00F0PA4X8

  12. I am an artist! And an aspiring author 🙂

I am known for my werewolves and my wolf and animal peoples, and my art was featured twice on the pilot episode of Teen Wolf! So yay, small world Jenny ^.^
Anyhoo, arts can be found on my website http://www.goldenwolfen.com where you can buy prints, t-shirts, stickers, sketchbooks, and such. 🙂 I also have an Etsy store where you can mainly buy pendants of my artwork: https://www.etsy.com/shop/goldenwolfart
Everything is either hand made or produced by me!

As for writing, I am currently on my (hopefully) final revision of my first ever novel, a paranormal romance about my werewolf race, titled “Hunger” (because YAY tropes and cliches for everyone!) I plan on doing this as a trilogy, with possibly more related books in the future. We’ll see where it goes. Anyway, if anyone is interested I have a Facebook page for it. Once it’s (self) published I will put up a more formal website for my writing 🙂 https://www.facebook.com/sate.your.hunger

Thanks! Great idea by the way! I love seeing everyone’s creativity ^.^

Here’s the incredibly sweet senior dog we’re fostering. He’s great with my kids, but I feel he’d be happiest in a home with a semi-couch potato who would like nothing more than to give him cuddles and belly rubs for hours on end. If you’re looking for a good-natured, extremely low-maintenance dog, please consider giving Hank a home!

Thanks so much for the opportunity Jenny! We run an Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/ReactionDesigns with a WIDE variety of different products and price points. Metalwork to 3D Printed items, if you can imagine it we can probably make it.

We have Lego jewelry, Doctor Who inspired jewelry, do custom hand engraving, offer accessories for men and women, and offer a large number of Steampunk inspired pieces.

We also have props and build kits for video game fans and cosplayers. MultiPass anyone? And if that isn’t enough, Steampunk My Little Ponies! (The classic 80’s ones of course) https://www.etsy.com/transaction/232751265

The shop is pretty empty thus far, because I’m trying to move to a new state, but I have a lot of fun making fancy things.

This is a really cool idea.

My new band doesn’t have anything online yet, but my old band Soldiers & Sailors has an album up on LastFM for free. We played spooky, abrasive folk: The Tower Inverted

I’m also selling a comic book I wrote/illustrated and octopus plushies on my etsy.

I have an Etsy shop for fantastical headbands, ornaments, home decor and candles

It’s craft fair season and Christmas is coming, so you can expect not only lots of new stuff going up soon, but the return of popular stuff from last season.

I also have photographs available on Redbubble (which can also be purchased as throw pillows, tote bags and iphone cases). Largely landscapes (with a focus on New England) and food photography.

You can check out my studio’s Pinterest board to see a little bit more of the vibe I’m going for.
