Everything you need to know about FIRST TIME and a MASSIVE giveaway.

Posted in Uncategorized

It’s about one week until the release of First Time, my dual-novel spin-off from my Sophie Scaife series, and people have questions. And have I got answers for you!

First Time New Cover

IAN:

Newly divorced and romantically pessimistic, Ian Pratchett doesn’t know why he’s been set up with Penny Parker. She’s unrelentingly positive, utterly superstitious, and sexually inexperienced—everything Ian is not. But when sparks fly between them, Ian sees the possibility of a life he’d given up hoping for…with a woman he would never have expected.

PENNY:

With the wounds from a bad breakup still healing, Penny Parker is reluctant to dive back into the dating scene. She’s especially wary of being set up with an older man, but Ian Pratchett wants the same future she’s after: family, stability, and true love. Though all the signs point to Ian being The One, can the timing ever be right between two people born decades apart?

Do I have to read both books to understand the story? Not at all! Both books are complete novels following the same love story. If you read both, however, you get both Ian and Penny’s point of view.

Is this an erotic romance, like The Boss? Nope! I would classify this as a contemporary romance with the heat turned up.

I’m planning on reading both. Which book should I read first? It really doesn’t matter. They were written to be read in either order, or even side-by-side!

Are you going to release the first chapter on your blog, like you usually do? As it turns out, I don’t have to. You can read a whopping 20% of both novels at Smashwords.com! Here’s the link to Ian and here’s the link to Penny.

Are characters from The Boss going to make appearances? Yup! Sophie and Deja both make appearances in Penny’s story, and Neil shares a scene with Ian in Ian’s book.

I’ve been imagining [insert celebrity here] for Ian/Penny. Who did you imagine while writing the book? In my head, Craig Ferguson is Ian and Dianna Agron is Penny.

I’m coming to see you at the Authors After Dark book signing. Can I get First Time there? I’m planning on it! I made a Twitter announcement stating that I wouldn’t be able to get copies there in time, but as it turns out, they may just make it!

  5. No, but like, what kind of “own option”? I feel like it’s an accomplishment that I told my mom a crude joke the other day. She’s proud of me, too, but I’m not sure if that one counts. :’D

(Also, because I’m pretending to be shy and wouldn’t manage to say it some other time: Been checking your tweets out for a while now after a certain incident online (you were ALL OVER MY TUMBLR DASH) and then I had to read your books, and now I’m just really in love. As soon as I stop trying to survive on ramen, I’ll buy more. Of your books, not ramen.)

  7. I’d be in Atlanta with you except, you know, the Pacific Ocean. One of these years. One of these West Coast conference years…

The reading samples were over too soon! I cannot wait to read both books and I am really mad that I have to wait until the 14th because I have important papers to write 🙁 I think I liked Ian’s POV better but both POVs will be fun!
Two things I learnt whilst reading (I am not from the US/an Anglophone country): 1. prostitution is illegal in the States and 2. the plural of octopus seems to be octopods.

Have fun in Atlanta and if the giveaway is international (?), thanks for that 🙂

I was happy to hear that you’re a Sherrilyn fangirl as well. Some of my snobby reader friends make fun of the fact that I love her books. But you know what? I can always depend on her to give me a good story with hot dudes enmeshed in a truly unique plot with ladies who resemble actual real life ladies and always deliver me a happy ending. What is wrong with that, I ask? (Also? The first half of Acheron was magnificent and shows what she could do if she chose to not focus on romance. I don’t care what anyone says. I felt so proud. That’s also the book I got autographed. ;o) )

That definitely sounds interesting, but she’s written so much that I’m kinda intimidated. Any suggestion on where to start?

Her Dark Hunter series is my favorite. On the one hand it’s pretty typically romance-y, but on the other the underlying mythology is kind of amazing. Your starting point is Fantasy Lover – although I think the first one I picked up was three books in and it did not hinder my enjoyment at all. I think I read three or four more before I went and got the ones I missed and started over. They are really fast reads for when you just want a little something sexy with some decent action that you know will end up happily ever after. Lol. I reread them when I need a pick me up.

  11. I’m a huge fan of Craig Ferguson, so I absolutely love the idea of him playing Ian if First Time was made into a movie. 🙂
